Obituary and Funeral Liturgy of Sr. Agnes AnneMarie Kelleher OSU

Sr. Agnes Kelleher, OSU (aka Anne Marie) died peacefully, April 4, 2022, at Andrus on Hudson, Hastings on Hudson, NY. The daughter of Mary Daly and James Kelleher, Agnes was born in New York City, June 10, 1918. She graduated from the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula in 1936 and later attended Fordham University and the Catholic University of America.
Agnes entered the Ursuline Sisters in July 1936 and made her Profession of Vows in 1939. In January Agnes marked 86 years of religious profession. Agnes was a true missionary, and her life was one of service to poor and marginalized people both here in the United States and in Africa. While in Africa, Agnes ministered in Botswana, Zambia, South Africa. Her years in Africa were very important to her. Her book on these experiences, No One Saw your Footsteps, was written in her later years.
Agnes also spent many years educating children in the United States serving in New York and Delaware. In her later years, she was a pastoral associate and did volunteer work in a prison.
Sister Agnes was predeceased by her parents and her siblings. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Sr. Agnes will be at the Ursuline Province Center, 1338 North Ave., Thursday, April 7, 9:15-10:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial in the family plot will take place following the Mass. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ursuline Retirement Fund, 1338 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10804.
