Obituary for Sr. Anne Curry, OSU

Sr. Anne Curry, OSU (Mary Luke) died peacefully at Andrus on Hudson, Hastings on Hudson on April 14, 2017. Born in the Bronx on April 10, 1924, the daughter of Anne and John Curry, Sister Anne was educated in the Bronx, the College of New Rochelle and Fordham University.

She taught at schools in the Bronx: St. Jerome’s, St. Philip Neri as well as Mount St. Ursula. Sr. Anne also taught at St. Joseph’s School in Middletown, NY.

Sr. Anne became a certified Spiritual and Retreat Director serving in that capacity for many years. She also served as Provincial of the Ursuline Sisters of the Eastern Province, Superior of the Bedford Park Convent, Assistant Novice Mistress in Beacon, NY and Tertian Director in Rome, Italy. Sr. Anne directed the Angela Program in which she instructed Ursuline Sisters from around the world about St. Angela Merici, Foundress of the Ursuline Order. She was a member of the Provincial Council, Provincial Secretary and the Mount St. Ursula Board of Trustees.

Sr. Anne is predeceased by her parents, Anne Carroll Curry and John Curry and siblings and is survived by several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held at the Ursuline Province Center, 1338 North Ave., New Rochelle, NY 10804 on Wednesday, April 19, 1:00-4:00 PM with a prayer service at 2:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 in the Center Chapel.
