Obituary for Sr. Agnes Kelly, OSU

Sister Agnes Kelly, OSU, (Mother Hugh) died peacefully at her home in Kingston, NY, on April 20, 2021.  Sr. Agnes, daughter of Catherine Rice Kelly and Hugh Kelly, was born in Mt. Vernon, NY.  She graduated from the Ursuline School ‘52, the College of New Rochelle 56. In 1958 she entered the Ursuline Sisters, making her novitiate in Beacon, NY.

For over 20 years, Agnes ministered in Elementary Schools in Ursuline Academy, Bethesda, MD, St. Angela’s, Bronx, NY, Morgan Community, Teacher Resource Person as well as Principal, St. Angela’s and Corpus Christi.  She also was Coordinator for Senior Services in Wilmington, DE. Recently, Agnes has worked as a Psychotherapist and at several social service positions in Ulster County. She also served as Past President of the Ulster County Historical Society.

Sr. Agnes is predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Hugh and her brothers, Christopher, Edmund, and Neill.  She is survived by her brothers, Dan and Hugh, as well as several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, NY on Tuesday, April 27 at 10:30am.  Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
