Statement of the Ursuline Sisters of the Eastern Province regarding the closure of Catholic Schools

New Rochelle, NY – We, the Ursuline Sisters of the Eastern Province, stand in solidarity and prayer with the students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and parish personnel of the twenty Catholic schools that will be closing throughout the New York Archdiocese. The news of these closures is devastating to all. These schools have been a gift and grace to countless families and children for generations and we pray that all those affected will continue to be inspired by the teachings and values that these schools represented.  The Ursulines have a long history of service in the Archdiocese of New York and our sisters have had the privilege of ministering in many schools. We continue to hold in our prayers the children most impacted by this decision. As we move forward in this difficult time, we pray that the students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators and parish personnel will be graced with the support and fortitude that they need to go on.
