Obituary and Funeral Liturgy of Sr. Jeanne Hamilton, OSU

Sister Jeanne Hamilton, OSU (aka Angela Mary), died peacefully on June 19, 2023, at Andrus on Hudson, Hastings on Hudson, NY. Born in New York, Jeanne was the daughter of Marian Walshe and Joseph V. Hamilton. Jeanne attended the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula, Manhattanville, the College of New Rochelle, and Fordham University. She also received a JCL in Canon Law from St. Paul University in Ottawa, Canada.

Jeanne’s ministry experience always centered around education in some form. She began in Elementary School, then High School, teaching at Blessed Sacrament, St. Philip Neri, Wilmington, Ursuline Academy, Philadelphia, Fels Jr. High, Overbrook HS, and the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula. Following her classroom teaching years, she became the Director of Campus Ministry at Marist and Fordham, where she was the Assistant Director of Campus Ministry. Following the reception of the JCL, Sister Jeanne was appointed a Judge in the Marriage Tribunal of the Diocese of Wilmington, DE. She was also a columnist for the Diocesan newspaper, The Dialogue. After retirement, Jeanne did service for the Ursuline Province Development Office and in-house service in the community.

Sr. Jeanne is predeceased by her parents, Marian and Joseph, as well as her brother, Joseph, and his wife, Gertrude, who died earlier this year. She is survived by her brother Robert and his wife, Carol.

Visiting hours for Sr. Jeanne will be at the Ursuline Province Center on Thursday, June 22, 3:00-5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Lloyd Maxcy & Sons is in charge of the arrangements.
