Sister Jean Marie Humphries (Jeannie), an Ursuline educator and graduate of the Academy of Mount St. Ursula, has assumed the position of Principal there as of July 2014.
Jeannie has consistently brought energy and dedication to education as her ministry since her profession as an Ursuline in 1999.
After earning a Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Learning from Fordham University in 2013, she was Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Concordia College, NY. While in doctoral studies, she was doing innovative work in learning and reading as Instructional Supervisor for learning at the Cooke Center for Learning and Development in NY.
Jeannie began her Ursuline ministry teaching for 3 years at St. Philip Neri in the Bronx, where she had previously taught as a laywoman for 4 years. From there she was a reading specialist at the Flanders Elementary School in Malone, NY. She next worked at St. Ignatius School in Hunts Point, NY.
A graduate of the College of New Rochelle, she earned a BA in Education and an MS in Reading and Special Education.
Returning to her alma mater offers an opportunity to bring her skills, energy, and learning to the students of Mount St. Ursula.
