Feast of St. Ursula is Saturday, October 21st.

Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Ursula. The statue pictured on the left is in front of the Ursuline School, New Rochelle, NY created by Sr. Justin McKiernan, OSU (dec. 1993). The picture with the statue in the blue backdrop is at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula, Bronx, NY.

O Ursula
Autumn brilliance shouts your name
Crisp air blue skies starry nights
Exuberance
Your brave spirit suits this time
Storied leader, virgin – choiced –
Arrow-straight your vision
Spirit-strong your heart.
Your great adventure sparked companions.
Woman among women you were, creating
a Company for Christ,
going where your going led,
in final brilliant Pascal light.
Standard-bearers in that dim time and place
How you captured dreamers after you.
How you caught our mother’s heart
Her company of women wrapped in yours,
Your standard hers-and ours.
– Sr. Mary Dowd, OSU
