Obituary and Funeral Liturgy for Sr. Ann Ruth Dumas, OSU
Sr. Ann (Annie) Ruth Dumas, a member of the Ursuline Community, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY, after living courageously with cancer for many years.
Ann was born April 11, 1948, in Malone, NY, to parents Ruth and Kenneth Dumas, who predeceased her. She is survived by her siblings, Shirley, Gary, Donald, Thomas, Marie, Connie, Mary, and Pauline, along with their extended family and her Ursuline Sisters.
Sr. Ann is a graduate of NY State University, Plattsburg, NY. She taught for many years in Maryland, New York, and Vermont. In 2005, she entered the Ursulines. Her ministry included Serviam Academy, Wilmington, DE, interprovincial service in Georgetown, Guyana, and The Ursuline School, New Rochelle. Sr. Ann is lovingly remembered for her service as a chaplain for Ursuline’s girls’ basketball teams over the years. She also volunteered her services at The Food Bank of Delaware, the New Rochelle Public Library, and to her Ursuline Sisters in the 1338 Community.
Sr. Ann had donated her body to medical science. A Memorial Mass was held on Friday, May 30, at 10:30 am at the Ursuline Province Center Chapel, 1338 North Ave., New Rochelle. Burial will be in the family plot in Malone, NY, at a later date.
