Sr. Mary Miller, OSU Obituary

Sister Mary Miller, OSU died peacefully on Saturday, April 28th, at Andrus on Hudson, in Hastings on Hudson, NY. Born in Michigan City, IN, she was the daughter of Stella Johannigman Miller and Carl Miller.

Sister Mary, also known as Sister Mary Alma, entered the Ursuline Order in Beacon, NY in 1954. She spent much of her life as a math teacher in secondary education at the Academy of Mt. St. Ursula, Bronx, The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, St. Mary’s Mission, St.Mary’s, Alaska. She served as Education Coordinator for the Data Systems Center, for the New York Archdiocese. Sr. Mary was a skilled secretary as well, assisting at the Salesian Mission office, St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church, the Ursuline development office, and the Adult Learning Center.

Sister Mary is pre­deceased by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her sister, Margaret.
Funeral arrangements are as follows. Visitation will be held May 1 from 2-5 pm at the Ursuline Province Center, 1338 North Ave. New Rochelle, NY 10804 with a prayer service at 3:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be held May 2nd, at 10:00 am in the Convent chapel with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle. Donations in Sr. Mary’s name may be made to the Ursuline Sisters Retirement Fund at the North Ave. address. Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
